Shiv Puran
According to the Shiv Purana, Lord Shiva is both the beginning and the end of creation. He is not merely the deity of destruction, but the supreme symbol of transformation, compassion, and welfare. The form of Shiva teaches us that balance in life is the highest dharma. He is an ascetic yogi meditating on Mount Kailash, yet at the same time an ideal householder with Goddess Parvati. Through this, Shiva conveys the message that one can attain detachment and self-realization even while living in the world. The stories described in the Shiv Purana inspire us to renounce ego, embrace the power of devotion, and walk on the path of truth. The Shiva Lingam symbolizes the balance between the formless and the manifest, showing that although God is beyond form, He reveals Himself through the devotion of His devotees. Shiva’s act of drinking poison (Vishapaan) teaches us that the hardships and negativities of life can be held with patience and wisdom and transformed into something beneficial. The mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” purifies the mind and brings stability to the soul. The essence of the Shiv Purana is that when the mind becomes calm, the ego dissolves, and actions become pure, life itself becomes a spiritual practice, and the individual gradually progresses on the path toward liberation (moksha). 🕉️
